Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said on Fox News Sunday this week that former President Donald Trump should let Vice President Kamala Harris “do the talking” during Tuesday's presidential debate because she has been reluctant to speak without a teleprompter.
Host Shannon Bream asked, “What does he need to do on Tuesday night?”
“I think we need to let Harris do the talking. She doesn't like to talk unless she's reading from a teleprompter. The polls are pretty neck and neck and she's coming off the sugar rush after her coup against Joe Biden and the ensuing convention,” Cornyn said. “I'd love to see a repeat of the strong performance she had with President Trump in the debate against President Biden. I think Harris is capable of that.”
“Fundraising is important, but so are the issues and qualifications of the candidates. There are good candidates running in the Senate and I'm optimistic about our chances of taking back the majority. I hope they have enough money to defend themselves and talk about where they stand and what they'll do if elected, and I'm confident they will,” he said.
