WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump called CNN and MSNBC “Democrats' political weapons” and in a speech to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday, he said “what they do is illegal.”
Trump has denounced cable news networks and other outlets for his remarks.
“And CNN and MSDNC, who literally write that they're 97.6% bad about me, are Democrats' political weapons, and in my opinion, they're really corrupt and they're illegal – what they're doing is illegal,” he said.
“It doesn't make a difference how big I have won. I can get the biggest victory in history. There's no difference in what kind of failures the other side has. These people chase after me,” he added.
Trump has expressed particular concern about the networks and outlets affecting judges.
But these networks and these newspapers are no different to well-paid political operatives. It must be stopped. It must be illegal. It has an impact on judges. It really changes the law and isn't legal. I don't think it's legal, they do it perfectly with each other.
Some time ago, Trump said the “fake lawyers” had adopted an attack on “public relations” against Judge Eileen Cannon, who was the main side of the now-dead document case filed by the Biden-era DOJ.
“They said, 'She was late, she wasn't smart, she was totally biased, and she loved Trump,'' said Trump. “I knew no one other than seeing her for a few days she was in court, and I thought her chapel was amazing.”
He argued that such tactics were employed to try to get judges to dominate in a certain direction, and in his case those directions were belief.
They wanted to scare hell from the judges, and they did it. And if you're a judge, how would you stop it? You have a family of children, because you want to go home, and New York Times These people will write anything they say Washington Post,and Wall Street Journal, and MSDNC, and fake news CNN, and ABC, CBS, and NBC, and they'll write whatever they say. And what do you do to get rid of it? You convict Trump. All you have to do is really tough for him and ultimately convict him and they will leave you alone. What they do is completely illegal.
Trump said Cannon was not affected despite realizing that he was trying to influence her decision.
“But in her case, she was very brave and it only made her mad…and that had no effect on the incident against her and me at all,” Trump called the incident “bumble.”
