Former President Trump attacked ABC News host George Stephanopoulos in a late-night post over his “vile and totally inappropriate” interview with Rep. Byron Donald (R-Fla.).
Stephanopoulos’ contentious interview with The Donald on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday saw the two spar over President Trump’s promise to pardon defendants convicted in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, as well as the Republican presidential nominee’s criticism of Vice President Harris’ recent racial attacks.
Trump accused the host of being politically biased and claimed the host had previously given a light-hearted interview to President Biden after his poor debate performance raised concerns among Democrats about whether Biden, as the incumbent, could continue in the race.
“Riddle George of ABC Fake News was very kind and gentle, asking simple questions and doing whatever it took to make Sleepy, the worst president in the history of our country (Kamabra is the worst vice president) look agile and sharp,” he said. I wrote to Truth Social early Tuesday morning.“It didn’t work, but he tried!”
“Then we watched as Slopadopolos savagely attacked future Republican star Rep. Byron Donald with vicious and totally inappropriate questions – the exact opposite of the treatment given to Crooked Joe,” Trump continued. “Luckily, Byron swatted him away like a fly and we never heard from him again!”
Stephanopoulos and Donald clashed on Sunday over the January 6 riot, with the Florida congressman denying that President Trump ever promised to pardon everyone convicted of crimes related to the riot. Stephanopoulos fired back after the ABC host, a former adviser to former President Clinton, repeatedly quoted Trump verbatim. The exchange ended in a shouting match.
The two also exchanged views on Republican attacks on Harris’ race and origins, following Trump’s claim in an interview last week that she had “recently become black.”
Donald has refused to condemn the comments, which have been widely condemned as racist, calling it a “fake controversy.”
