Trump, Speaker Johnson to hold joint press conference Friday on election integrity

Former President Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) are scheduled to hold a joint news conference Friday focused on election integrity, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to The Hill. The appearance of one of Trump’s top aides threatens to oust the chairman from the top job.

The press conference will be held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, officials said. Another source told The Hill that Friday’s event is planned, but details have not yet been finalized.

The incident comes as Mr. Trump’s ally, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), has threatened to force a vote to remove Mr. Johnson from his leadership position, and Mr. It happened amid a predicament at the Capitol.

Greene filed a motion to remove her late last month, the same mechanism used to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), but has yet to trigger a vote on the resolution.

The press conference was scheduled to take place after President Trump blocked Johnson’s attempt to pass the Spy Authorization Act, writing that lawmakers should “kill FISA.”
