The 2024 Republican presidential candidate spoke to Fox News host Laura Ingraham about how America has “lost” a lot by no longer practicing religion as much as it once did.

“God is the one who killed me,” Trump said after he sustained ear injuries during an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. [his] He called them his “ally” during a speech at the Republican National Convention.

“I think one of the reasons our country has lost everything, so to speak, we’ve lost a lot, is because we don’t have the same level of religion,” Trump told Ingraham. “I mean, you look at that chart. It’s very sad. It’s getting worse, and the Democrats have been violent and ruthless with religion during COVID. What they’ve done with COVID is people aren’t even allowed to congregate outdoors, 10 feet apart in a wide open field.”

“They arrested everybody. They were fascists. They were nasty people,” he continued. “It was a very bad time for organized religion. But religion gives you hope: Oh, if I’m good, I’m going to heaven.”

Trump pray He was committed to his family, to America, and to the world.

“I pray for my country,” he said. “I pray the same things that you all pray for: for our families and our country. We have families, we have a country, and I think we have the world. I pray for the world. I stopped what could have been a world war.”

He added that a world war could be “very close.”

“If you look at the relationship between Russia and Ukraine, you see we’re spending billions of dollars. Now Russia wants offensive weapons so we can attack Moscow. Frankly, we are very close to a world war. The Middle East is about to explode. The relationship between Russia and Ukraine is much more serious than you think.”

Ingram asked Trump if he believed in heaven.

“I think so. If I’m good, I’m going to heaven,” he said. “If I’m bad, I’m going somewhere else.”
