Trump Highlights Economic Policies in Texas Speech

Recently, President Donald Trump spoke at the Peterbilt Motors manufacturing plant located in Denton, Texas. His address focused on promoting his administration’s economic strategies, supporting Republican Senate candidates, and advocating for a revival in American manufacturing.

During his speech, directed at both factory employees and company leaders, Trump underscored the positive effects that trade protection measures, tax reductions, and deregulation have had on domestic production. He pointed to the Denton facility as a significant illustration of his “Made in America” initiative.

“Workers like you and companies like this have always been loyal to our country,” Trump stated. “But for decades, you were heartlessly betrayed by politicians, lousy politicians who let foreign trade cheaters plunder your wages, loot your factories, close up your jobs, and they robbed our country blind.”

Peterbilt announced that it had added 1,000 jobs at the Denton site.

Trump’s remarks highlighted the influence of trade policies enacted in late 2025, particularly the introduction of 25% tariffs on foreign medium- and heavy-duty trucks and non-compliant vehicle parts as part of the USMCA trade agreement.

Company management and White House officials attributed these trade barriers to substantial growth in domestic operations, mentioning that Peterbilt and its parent company, PACCAR, have been able to expand production and create over 1,000 local jobs at the North Texas plant.

He also pointed out how these protective tariffs had successfully halted the trend of heavy truck manufacturing moving overseas, prompting both auto and commercial vehicle manufacturers to reinvest in American assembly lines.

This speech served not only to highlight economic data but also to gain traction ahead of the midterm elections. Trump made a notable endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is currently in the running for a U.S. Senate seat.

He praised Paxton’s performance, calling him “the single greatest attorney general in the United States of America” while stressing his significance to Texas.

“We need Ken so badly, and that’s why I’m here. I wanted to stop here,” Trump asserted. He also cautioned that losing the seat to Democrat opponent James Talarico would be a “horror to the system” and detrimental to both Texas and the country.

Trump humorously acknowledged Paxton from the podium, saying, “I didn’t even know he was here,” while also recognizing Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the audience.

At another point, amid discussions on employment figures, he pointed to recent job growth in manufacturing and construction as signs that long-term industrial investment is coming back to the U.S.

Experts believe that this visit marks the onset of a more aggressive domestic campaign tour, during which Trump plans to visit notable industrial locations nationwide to promote the impact of his administration’s commercial and trade policies.
