Trump’s Speech Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday in Iowa
On July 3, 2025, President Donald Trump delivered his first speech since the passing of a significant legislative bill, referred to as “one big beautiful bill,” in Iowa, which is gearing up for America’s 250th birthday celebration.
As Trump took the stage at the Iowa Fairgrounds, country artist Lee Greenwood’s performance of God Bless the USA marked a dramatic entrance.
“Remember eight months ago when the temperatures were sub-zero? It was frigid, but our spirits were high as we celebrated our landslide victory in the caucus,” Trump remarked.
He recalled how residents of Iowa overwhelmingly supported him, winning 98 out of 99 counties, only vaguely referencing the one county that did not. “Hey, 98 isn’t bad,” he added with a grin.
Trump took a moment to celebrate the passage of the recent bill, arguing it was the best birthday gift for the nation.
“This incredible victory in Congress, with this bill, demonstrates our commitment to making America great again,” he declared.
He elaborated on the bill’s contents, suggesting it would contribute to the removal of undocumented individuals and cut down on government waste significantly.
“This bill fulfills every promise we made to the people of Iowa back in 2024,” he stated.
Moreover, the legislation solidifies 2017 tax cuts, ensuring they remain in effect while also enhancing border security funding. However, it also imposes a considerable reduction on Medicaid funding, potentially leaving millions uninsured as estimated by the Congressional Budget Office.
Trump claimed the bill would add another 165 days to his administration’s timeline, suggesting the U.S. is experiencing an unprecedented winning streak.
“They tell me I’m destined to be one of the greatest presidents in history. I’m still surprised by that,” he joked, inquiring whether he might surpass Abraham Lincoln in historical significance.
The president also commented on national defense, stating that his proposed missile shield would be crucial in protecting against threats from nations like Iran.
“We’re developing a superior defense system,” he noted, referencing recent missile activity as evidence of the need for such protections.
He mentioned how Iranian authorities had acknowledged their respect for the U.S., adding some humor about military strategy.
“Other nations, like China and Russia, are paying attention,” he remarked, praising the capabilities of the armed forces.
Trump also touched on agricultural issues, suggesting he would work closely with farmers regarding immigration policies affecting agricultural workers. It seemed a bit uncertain, but he emphasized collaboration with Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem.
“If farmers get these workers on board, perhaps we can find a good solution,” he said, hinting at a careful approach to the topic.
Continuing his speech, Trump reaffirmed plans for the “Great American State Fair,” a concept he originally introduced during his 2024 campaign. It’s kind of an exciting thought, starting this event in Iowa.
“We’re going to begin at your fairgrounds, and it’s going to be a big turnout, just like tonight,” he promised.
He reminded attendees that Iowa had pledged to be a focal point for festivities marking this significant anniversary.
“I promised two years ago that the celebrations would start here, and here I am,” he stated, with a nod to keeping commitments.
In a surprising twist, Trump announced that a UFC fight would take place on the White House grounds as part of the 250th birthday celebration.
“We’re setting up events in national parks and historic locations, and yes, there’s going to be a UFC event right at the White House,” he told enthusiastic supporters.
