Trump Critiques Jewish Voters in New York Mayoral Race

As voters in New York City went to the polls on Tuesday for the mayoral election, former President Donald Trump made headlines by suggesting that Jewish individuals would be “foolish” to support Democratic Socialist candidate Zoran Mamdani.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed, “Jews who vote for Zoran Mamdani, a self-confessed Jew-hater, are idiots!!!” His comments have certainly stirred up conversations.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Mamdani’s campaign for a response.

Mamdani Faces Scrutiny

Controversy surrounded Mamdani earlier this year when he remarked, “It hurts to be called an anti-Semite,” in response to accusations he received. Mamdani, who identifies as Muslim, also highlights “democratic socialism” in his social media profiles.

In a recent post, he stated, “As mayor, I will do everything in my power to protect Jewish New Yorkers and all faith communities.” However, he declined to condemn the term “globalizing the intifada,” which has raised red flags among critics.

This week, an antisemitism watchdog group published a sharply critical report about Mamdani, warning that he has repeatedly ignored the implications of certain phrases. The report highlighted that he has characterized Israel’s military actions as “genocide” while attempting to downplay the recent violence carried out by Hamas.

Political Endorsements and Backlash

Trump urged his supporters to back former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the election. He stated, “A vote for Curtis Sliwa is essentially a vote for Mamdani,” suggesting that Sliwa’s candidacy would not benefit the Republican side.

Trump went further, saying, “Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really don’t have a choice. You have to vote for him and hope he does a great job. He can do that; Mamdani can’t!”

This turbulent political landscape has led to intense discussions, especially as candidates continue to make their cases to voters.
