Trump Declares Strait of Hormuz Clear of Naval Mines

President Donald Trump has announced that the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz are now free of naval mines.

This declaration came as he received news from the United States Navy, which he shared via a post on Truth Social on Tuesday.

“I have just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump stated.

In his message, he issued a stern warning against any efforts to place new explosives in the critical waterway.

“Iran has been notified that any ship or boat placing new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed,” he added. “There is a Zero Tolerance policy on mine placement in full force and effect.”

The announcement comes in the context of increased tensions following the U.S.-led operations against Iran, which began on February 28. During that period, the Strait of Hormuz faced significant threats, leading to essential shipping routes being jeopardized.

This waterway is vital for global trade, with approximately one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passing through it before the conflict escalated. Although U.S. officials claim that some commercial vessels are now navigating the area with military support, overall traffic remains significantly lower than before.

Trump further noted that the U.S. Space Force, established during his initial presidency, is keeping a close watch over “every square inch of the Strait,” as well as other Iranian nuclear sites that have been targeted by U.S. forces.
