Trump Criticizes UN After Technical Failures During Speech
This week, President Donald Trump spoke at the United Nations and had a few mishaps. In a statement, he expressed his frustrations, labeling the events as “sinister” and referring to them as “triple sabotage.”
First, when he and First Lady Melania Trump stepped onto an escalator, it unexpectedly stopped. Trump remarked on how fortunate they were not to fall onto the sharp edges of the stairs.
The second issue occurred when his teleprompter malfunctioned during the first 15 minutes of his speech. Trump noted the awkwardness of addressing a massive audience without any cues from the teleprompter.
“I had to begin my speech without it, and, uh, it kicked back in about 15 minutes later,” he explained.
Finally, Trump claimed that his speech wasn’t actually broadcast in the auditorium, making it difficult for attendees to hear him clearly. He stated that attendees could only listen through interpreters’ headsets.
Trump recounted his conversation with Melania after the speech, saying she asked, “How did you do it?” to which she admitted she couldn’t hear what he was saying.
Two technical mishaps? Well, that can happen. But three? That raises eyebrows.
In his remarks, Trump expressed concern over the pattern of these events, suggesting they could not be mere coincidences. He likened them to a conspiracy of sorts, insisting they warrant an investigation.
He referenced some lighthearted remarks from UN staff about the escalator incident, implying it was unprofessional. “They should be ashamed of themselves,” he stated, urging for immediate inquiries.
The Secret Service seems to be looking into the situation as well.
As for a rather outlandish suggestion, Trump proposed that the funds allocated to the UN should be redirected to create a giant robot, which could then participate in a pay-per-view event where it would, amusingly, push a UN building into the East River.
