Pakistan has put forward President Donald Trump as a candidate for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting his “decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership” that helped mediate a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
In a post on X, the Pakistani government expressed appreciation for Trump, stating that he demonstrated “great strategic foresight” and effective diplomacy by engaging with both Islamabad and New Delhi, effectively averting a worsening situation.
The Pakistani government announced, “We have formally recommended President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, acknowledging his key diplomatic efforts during the recent crisis with India.” They emphasized that the international community has observed unprovoked illegal attacks from India, which severely violated Pakistan’s sovereignty and resulted in innocent casualties, including women, children, and the elderly.
In reaction, Pakistan initiated an operation known as Bunyanum Marsoos, which was, according to the government, executed with care to avoid civilian harm while restoring deterrence and defending national territory.
“As tensions in the region escalate, President Trump’s robust diplomatic engagement played a crucial role in resolving the situation, ultimately securing a ceasefire and preventing a serious clash between the two nuclear states,” the statement continued. “This intervention showcases his genuine commitment to peace and conflict resolution through dialogue.”
According to previous reports, Trump disclosed that his administration facilitated a “complete and immediate ceasefire” amid escalating attacks between Pakistan and India.
In a recent update, Olivia Rondo from Breitbart News mentioned that Pakistan’s former foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, commended Trump for playing a pivotal role in achieving the ceasefire. Zardari also criticized the Indian government’s denial of Trump’s involvement in the ceasefire as “embarrassing.”
Zardari remarked, “It’s just embarrassing at this point. The entire world has witnessed these events.” He mentioned a conversation with India’s Secretary of State, referencing their communications with both sides.
A report from June 5th in the Deccan Herald indicated that New Delhi had consistently dismissed claims of U.S. mediation in the ceasefire, asserting instead that India accepted Pakistan’s demands and reached an understanding on May 10th.
Breitbart News highlighted that a British senator suggested the government nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in preventing war between the two countries. Lord Salfraz stated, “Without President Trump’s direct involvement, achieving a ceasefire wouldn’t have been possible. The ramifications of further escalation could have been catastrophic for the region and the world. Regardless of political opinions, he oversaw peace during this conflict.”
