Trump Proposes UFC Event at White House for America’s 250th Birthday
During a speech at the Iowa Fairgrounds, President Donald Trump expressed his desire to host a UFC event at the White House next year as part of the celebrations for America’s 250th birthday.
In Des Moines, where he kicked off the July 4th festivities, Trump hinted at what to expect during the milestone celebration. He mentioned the possibility of a championship fight with a crowd of 20,000 to 25,000 attendees right on the White House grounds.
“Everything about our national parks, the battlefield, and historic sites will have a special event honoring America at 250. I think we’re doing the UFC. Who’s watching? Great Dana White? I’m going to fight the UFC,” Trump stated.
“Just imagine, we could have a UFC fight on the White House grounds. Think about it. There’s a lot of land there. We’re going to build a venue,” he continued, attributing the planning to Dana White. “Dana is fantastic. We’re looking at championship fights, with a crowd like 20,000-25,000. It’s going to be a huge deal,” Trump added.
However, White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt dismissed the idea, calling it “seriously dead.”
Trump has been a longtime supporter of the UFC and its CEO, Dana White, who has campaigned alongside him in the past. At UFC events, Trump often receives enthusiastic cheers from attendees.
When he attended UFC 309 after winning the 2024 election, the crowd erupted in applause, with announcer Joe Rogan noting the loudness of the atmosphere. “Every time he comes, it’s always loud,” Rogan remarked.
The UFC has not responded to inquiries regarding Trump’s comments on the event.
