Trump Endorses Ashley Hinson for Iowa Senate Race

In a recent announcement, former President Donald Trump showed his support for U.S. Representative Ashley Hinson in her bid for the 2026 Iowa Senate seat.

On Friday, Trump officially endorsed Hinson, a Republican representing Iowa, as she plans to take over the position from retiring Senator Joni Ernst.

“I’ve known Ashley for a while, and she’s a WINNER! A devoted wife and proud mother of two sons, she’s an outstanding person who has always delivered for Iowa and will keep doing so in the Senate,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“Ashley Hinson is going to be a tremendous Senator, and she has my Complete and Total Endorsement—SHE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!” he added.

Additionally, Senate Majority Leader John Thune and the National Republican Senatorial Committee showed their support for Hinson.

“We need conservative fighters in the Senate, and that’s precisely what we’ll get with Ashley Hinson,” Thune remarked.

Hinson, who previously worked as a TV news anchor, is currently serving her third term representing Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District. She wasted no time launching her campaign after Ernst, who has been in the Senate since 2014, announced she wouldn’t seek re-election next year.

“After a significant amount of prayer and reflection, I have decided not to seek re-election in 2026,” Ernst stated in a social media video.

Expressing gratitude, Hinson thanked Ernst for her “incredible service to our state and nation” as well as their friendship.

“Iowa is better off because of your selfless service,” Hinson said.

Hinson also received endorsements from Senators Jim Banks, Katie Britt, and Markwayne Mullin, among others.

Furthermore, House GOP leaders like Steve Scalise, Tom Emmer, Elise Stefanik, and Bobby Kaufmann have all voiced their support for her campaign.
