Trump Endorses Paxton in Critical Texas Senate Race
In the upcoming primary runoff in Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Senator John Cornyn are gearing up for a competitive showdown. Recently, former President Donald Trump expressed his endorsement for Paxton, which could sway the dynamics of the race.
On his Truth Social account, Paxton shared his commitment to uphold several of Trump’s key policies if he wins a Senate seat. He specifically mentioned plans to eliminate the filibuster and push for the SAVE Act to enhance voting integrity.
“I fully support Ken Paxton as the next U.S. senator from Texas,” Trump stated, highlighting Paxton’s dedication as a “true MAGA warrior” who has consistently supported Texas. The endorsement stands as a significant challenge to Cornyn and will serve as a litmus test for Trump’s influence within the Republican Party.
While describing Cornyn as a “good man,” Trump criticized him for lacking adequate support for his agenda, which may further complicate Cornyn’s chances in the race.
The victor of the May 26 runoff will face James Talarico, a 37-year-old Democratic candidate, in the November election. Talarico recently won the Democratic primary against Representative Jasmine Crockett.
Paxton took to social media expressing his gratitude, saying, “I am extremely honored to receive President Trump’s full and complete support. No one has fought harder for the American people than President Trump. I look forward to defending President Trump’s America First policies in the Senate! Texas, get out and vote!”
As excitement builds, Texas residents eagerly anticipate the outcome, with the president emphasizing the importance of making the country “better than ever.” He concluded with full support for Paxton’s candidacy.
