Trump Endorses Lindsey Graham in Primary Fight
On Friday, President Donald Trump declared his support for Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, encouraging GOP voters to back him as he navigates challenges in the primary.
Trump shared a statement on his social media, praising Graham’s efforts while attacking his rival, Mark Lynch. He referred to Lynch as a “scourge on the Republican Party,” claiming he is aligned with figures like Representative Thomas Massie from Kentucky.
“Senator Lindsey Graham is doing a great job. He’s running against perhaps the worst congressman in our country’s history, a lunatic named Mark Lynch who supports Thomas Massey of Kentucky,” Trump remarked. “I don’t need to go into detail, but it goes without saying that Mark Lynch would be a disaster for the Republican Party and Lindsey Graham would only get the job done. Always vote for Lindsey.”
Behind the scenes, Graham has played a significant role in advocating for military action against Iran, working closely with foreign officials and intelligence sources. His involvement included multiple trips to Israel, where he engaged with the country’s intelligence services and gathered insights he later presented in Washington.
Graham has openly acknowledged his meetings with foreign intelligence officials, emphasizing that they often provide information that U.S. sources do not. “They’ll tell us things our government won’t tell us,” he noted in an interview.
Reportedly, Graham used these insights to lobby Trump during private discussions while coordinating with leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu and Mohammed bin Salman. He provided guidance on how these leaders could influence Trump and helped garner regional support for possible military actions.
According to an Israeli outlet, Israel Hayom, Graham is highlighted as a key figure alongside Netanyahu in shaping military efforts. The publication claimed that after a trip to the Middle East, Graham returned to Mar-a-Lago with a message from Gulf states pushing for U.S. action, which differed from what was being reported publicly at that time.
