Trump supports Lindsey Graham and commends his backing of the SAVE Act

Trump Endorses Graham Ahead of South Carolina Primary

On June 5, 2026, President Donald Trump expressed strong support for Senator Lindsey Graham, specifically for her backing of the SAVE America Act. This endorsement comes as Graham promotes the bill, which aims to impose strict voting regulations.

During his comments on Truth Social, Trump thanked Graham for prioritizing the act, framing it as crucial for the upcoming South Carolina Republican Senate primary. He urged Republican voters in the state to cast their ballots in her favor.

“I want to thank our great Senator Lindsey Graham for putting THE SAVE AMERICA ACT up for vote today,” Trump shared.

This legislation encompasses several key measures:

  • Mandatory photo identification for all voters.
  • Proof of citizenship required to vote.
  • Absentee ballots allowed only for specific reasons including illness or military service.
  • Banning biological males from competing in women’s sports.
  • Prohibiting gender-affirming surgeries for transgender minors.

Although the House of Representatives has passed the bill, it has faced challenges in the Senate, including a recent failure on June 4.

Trump and Graham maintain a close political partnership, with Graham actively supporting Trump’s initiatives on various fronts, including attorney general nominations and foreign policy.

“This Tuesday, June 9th, every Republican in South Carolina should vote for Lindsey Graham,” President Trump stated.

Trump’s influence remains significant within the Republican Party, as evidenced by his opposition to Rep. Thomas Massie in Kentucky, which contributed to Massie losing his seat.

After congratulating Ken Paxton for winning the Texas Senate primary, Trump pointed out on Truth Social that all the candidates he has endorsed this year have emerged victorious in their primaries, except for one narrow loss.

On the upcoming Tuesday, 37 other candidates who received Trump’s endorsement will also participate in the Republican primary, aiming to bolster his remarkable success in endorsements.
