Trump Endorses Mike Mazzei for Oklahoma Governor
President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Mike Mazzei in the Oklahoma Republican gubernatorial primary runoff, putting him ahead of his opponent, state Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
In the June 16 election, neither candidate managed to secure a sufficient number of votes, leading both to advance to the August 25 runoff. This election will determine who takes the mantle as the Republican candidate for governor.
“I love Oklahoma. Mike Mazzei has my full and complete support for governor!” Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday.
Trump’s backing for Mazzei comes alongside a sharp critique of Drummond, whom he labeled a “fake Republican,” and highlighted his political donations as evidence.
“Meanwhile, my opponent in the runoff, Gentner Drummond, is a fake Republican who donated to Sleepy Joe Biden and the totally corrupt and anti-American ‘Lincoln Project,’ which is now in turmoil because of his views on open borders, men in women’s sports, and transgender children’s mixing of children,” Trump stated, adding further remarks against Lincoln Project leaders.
“This is a shameful level of support from Drummond and his wife Wendy, who is also a liberal, and frankly that’s why they are both radical left-wing Democrats,” he continued.
Additionally, Trump accused Drummond of being critical of his plans for a new aluminum factory in the state.
“Furthermore, he wants to unseat a brand-new, spectacular, job-creating and desperately needed aluminum plant that will be one of the greatest projects ever conceived and built, not just in Oklahoma, but in the continental United States,” Trump remarked. “This will be one of the most successful job-creating factories ever built in our country.”
He emphasized the advantages the plant would bring, including job creation and reduced taxes.
“It also helps our country in terms of national security. Aluminum is not available in the United States, and if this plant is not approved, it will be moved elsewhere. Oklahoma can lead the way!”
According to Trump, the two candidates have conflicting stances regarding power plants.
“Very simply, Mike Mazzei is in favor of this much-needed job-creating aluminum plant. Drummond is not, for his own reasons. He sued unsuccessfully to block it. It’s going to be the largest aluminum plant in the country, and it’s all financed and done! This is a financial windfall for the state of Oklahoma, including a huge reduction in taxes!” he asserted.
In closing, Trump urged Oklahomans to rally behind Mazzei in the upcoming runoff.
“Drummond is not the right person, has a bad attitude, and does not support Oklahoma’s values. Oklahomans must vote for ‘Gubernatorial Candidate Mike Mazzei’ on Tuesday, August 25th. Mike will never let you down!”
