Trump Rallies Support for Paxton in Texas
President Donald Trump encouraged voters to support Ken Paxton, the Republican candidate for Senate in Texas, while taking aim at his Democratic opponent, James Talarico.
At his initial rally in Corpus Christi, Trump made it clear that he believes Republicans are the true supporters of the oil industry. He expressed concern that Texas’s economic strength would vanish if Talarico, who allegedly claimed in 2020 that the state’s oil and gas sector “is not gonna last,” were to win.
“You know, back in 2016, our policy was all about drilling—and look at us now! We’re drilling more than ever,” Trump noted. He further warned that electing “communist” James Talarico would quickly result in the loss of Texas’s wealth.
Trump criticized Talarico for his views on dismantling both the Texas oil and gas industry and capitalism itself, implying that Talarico has supported radical environmental initiatives.
“Green energy is just not cutting it right now. Other countries like Germany have tried it, and it nearly sank them financially. They had to change direction,” Trump explained, underscoring the high costs associated with green energy efforts.
The former president asserted that Talarico’s policies could jeopardize millions of jobs in Texas. In contrast, he praised Paxton for consistently prioritizing the state’s interests and its workforce.
“Ken Paxton has always acted for Texas—he’s focused on the people and their jobs,” Trump stated.
During the rally, Paxton also took the stage to commend Trump for his tireless campaigning for Republican candidates nationwide, urging Texans to cast their votes. Paxton remarked, “Mr. President, I am just so thankful for your presence here in Texas. You are making a difference.”
As the rally progressed, Trump also called Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the stage, who expressed his pride in serving the nation under Trump’s leadership.
Later, Trump traveled to Lubbock for a second rally, engaging with the crowd by tossing hats as he arrived. Here, he continued to disparage Talarico, criticizing his attendance at controversial events and comments he made about gender identity in relation to children.
In these remarks, Trump stated, “We cannot let this happen to our country. Talarico has even said that if Jesus came to the Texas legislature, He would promote sex changes for kids.”
As the rally wrapped up, Paxton showed his gratitude towards the president once again, emphasizing Trump’s hard work and dedication to electing Republicans in Texas and beyond.
