Trump Calls for Support in Tennessee’s Special Election
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to rally support for Matt Van Epps, the Republican candidate in the upcoming special election for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District. With the election set for December 2, he urged all “America First Patriots” in the area to head to the polls if they hadn’t already voted.
In his message, Trump sharply criticized Van Epps’ Democratic rival, state Rep. Aftin Behn, stating that she “hates Christianity,” advocates for gun control, supports open borders, and pushes for policies he claims undermine women’s sports and country music. He emphasized that these statements were verifiable, asserting, “It’s on tape!” He cautioned voters not to underestimate this election.
“The Radical Left Democrats are pouring money into defeating one of the best candidates ever, Matt Van Epps!” Trump declared, asserting his complete support for Van Epps and vowing he would “never let him down.”
Van Epps, noted for his service in the Tennessee Army National Guard and as a former Army helicopter pilot, received Trump’s endorsement earlier this year, which he described as “an incredible honor.”
Meanwhile, Aftin Behn has attracted significant attention for her past remarks, including critical comments about police and her aversion to the local drinking culture in Nashville. Indeed, discussions around police funding have been a contentious topic among some Democrats, with Behn previously suggesting the defunding of the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department.
When pressed last week about her earlier tweets that criticized police—tweets she has since deleted—Behn responded cautiously. “I’m not going to get into the cable news talking points, but our community needs solutions,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of local decision-making over broader government interference.
