Former President Donald Trump holds an 18-point lead in the four-way Iowa race against President-elect Joe Biden and others, according to a Des Moines Register/Mediacom/Selzer & Co. poll conducted after his conviction in New York’s business records trial.
A poll released Monday showed that 50% of Iowa voters support Trump in his bid to retake the White House, compared with 32% for Biden, 9% for independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and 2% for Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver.
Another 3 percent support a different candidate, 3 percent are undecided and 1 percent say they would not vote if given these choices.
Trump has widened his lead over Biden by three percentage points since February, when his lead was 48 percent and 33 percent, respectively.
“Ann Selzer is probably the best pollster in the country, especially in Iowa, and her polling should be taken extremely seriously,” Meghan McCain said.
The daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and former liberal Republican host of “The View,” McCain has been an outspoken critic of Trump since his first presidential victory. Now she’s warning mainstream media critics that the former president’s growing lead in the Hawkeye State is a sign he could win in Wisconsin as well.
“There is no possible scenario in which Trump wins Iowa by 18 points and then loses Wisconsin,” McCain wrote on X. “Ann Selzer is arguably the best pollster in the country (especially in Iowa) and her polling should be taken extremely seriously.”
