President-elect Trump has announced that he will select former newscaster and ardent Trump supporter Kali Lake to head the government-funded news organization Voice of America.
“I am pleased to announce that Kali Lake will be the next director of Voice of America,” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social Wednesday night.
Trump added that Lake will “ensure that America's values of liberty and liberty are conveyed fairly and accurately around the world, unlike the lies spread by the fake news media.”
Lake lost the 2022 race for Arizona governor and the 2024 race to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate.
Voice of America (VOA) is a media outlet serving more than 40 languages. We provide news, information and cultural programming via the internet, mobile, social media, radio and television. According to the website.
Lake, a frequent critic of mainstream media, was a Phoenix-based news anchor for more than 20 years before thrusting into the national political spotlight with the 2022 gubernatorial race.
“Kari is a beloved Arizona newscaster who supported me by a record margin for more than 20 years,” Trump wrote.
