Donald Trump on Thursday slammed FBI Director Christopher Wray after the bureau questioned whether Trump was actually hit by a bullet when an assassin opened fire at a campaign rally earlier this month.
“FBI Director Christopher Wray said yesterday on Congress that he doesn’t know if I was hit with shrapnel, glass or a bullet (the FBI wouldn’t even check!), but he is certain that the villain Joe Biden was physically and cognitively ‘at peace’ – which is false!” Trump wrote TruthSocialHe has also criticized President Biden.
Wray, responding to questions at a meeting of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, said he was unclear about the cause of the Republican presidential nominee’s ear injury.
“With former President Trump, there are questions as to whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that struck his ear,” he said.
He was responding to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) who was questioning him about the eight shots fired by 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.
But the former president claimed he was hit by a bullet while standing at the podium at an outdoor rally.
“There was no glass or shrapnel. The hospital called it a ‘gunshot wound to the ear’ and that is what it was,” he wrote.
Trump, who appointed Wray to be FBI director while he was president, argued that the FBI director’s comments prove “he knows nothing about the terrorists and other criminals who are flowing into our country at record levels.”
Here is the latest on the assassination attempt against Donald Trump:
“It’s no wonder the once-respectable FBI has lost America’s trust!” he added.
The FBI is investigating what hit Trump’s ear during the shooting and what caused the injury. The New York Times reported. Thursday.
Investigators from the FBI’s shooting reconstruction team are reportedly examining metal fragments and other debris recovered from the stage area after the incident.
Bullets struck three other people during the rally, killing one attendee.
Crooks was quickly shot down by Secret Service agents, and the FBI is still investigating the motive of the would-be assassin.
