Trump tells Schumer to 'GET LOST' after Senate candidate talks fail

Trump’s Tense Negotiations with Senate Democrats

During a notably tense moment, President Donald Trump responded sharply to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, stating, “GO TO HELL,” as discussions around confirming presidential appointees took a turn for the worse.

Trump encouraged the Senate to work through the weekend, aiming to clear a backlog of his nominations. However, after hours of back and forth, the Senate adjourned for its August recess without confirming many of Trump’s appointees.

“Senator Cryin’ Chuck Schumer is demanding over One Billion Dollars in order to approve a small number of our highly qualified nominees, who should right now be helping to run our Country. This demand is egregious and unprecedented, and would be embarrassing to the Republican Party if it were accepted,” Trump expressed in a Truth Social post.

“It is political extortion, by any other name. Tell Schumer, who is under tremendous political pressure from within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics, to GO TO HELL! Do not accept the offer, go home and explain to your constituents what bad people the Democrats are, and what a great job the Republicans are doing, and have done, for our Country. Have a great RECESS and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

The president’s accusation against Schumer, referencing a “one billion dollars” demand, related to Senate Democrats pushing the White House for a deal that would release funds to the National Institute of Health and other foreign aid allocations.

Additionally, Senate Democrats wanted assurances that there would be no future attempts to retract funding in exchange for agreement on Trump’s nominees.

GOP Senator Markwayne Mullin noted that progress appeared close multiple times. Unfortunately, Schumer kept insisting on additional demands, ultimately derailing negotiations.

“We’ve had three different deals since last night,” Mullin remarked. “Every time it’s, ‘I want more.’”

“You realize it was never really about making a deal,” he continued. “They want to claim that the President is unrealistic, unable to appease his base like previous presidents have.”

In contrast, Schumer fired back, asserting that the GOP should have persisted in their negotiations.

“Trump’s all-caps tweet summarized it all,” Schumer said. “In a fit of rage, Trump threw in the towel, sent Republicans home, and failed to negotiate effectively.”

“He took his ball, he went home, leaving everyone wondering what just happened,” he added.

In light of the setbacks caused by what they perceive as Democratic obstruction, some GOP Senators are contemplating rule modifications post-recess to facilitate the passage of Trump’s nominees, even if Democrats continue to block them.

However, it remains uncertain whether the GOP can implement these rule changes, as moderate Republicans may prefer to maintain the current processes for future Democratic nominations.

“I’ve spoken with President Trump a lot in the past 24 hours. Senate Democrats wanted a BILLION dollars to fast track his nominees. Trump told them to pound sand. NO DEAL,” Mullin tweeted.
