Trump’s NFL Game Attendance
Former President Donald Trump attended the NFL game between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions at Northwest Field in Landover, Maryland, on Sunday. Interestingly, he was present in the owner’s suite along with Commanders owner Josh Harris. Initially reported by Pat McAfee, this news was later confirmed through Trump’s own social media channels.
This marked Trump’s first NFL game of the current season, having last been seen at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, where the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The month of September was quite eventful for Trump. He had made appearances at the U.S. Open men’s final, a New York Yankees game—significantly, on the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks—and the Ryder Cup in New York. He also attended a game featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers last year.
Unfortunately, President Trump won’t get the chance to see Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels in action, as Daniels dislocated his left elbow during a tough loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
The game was a rematch of last year’s NFC divisional round, which the Commanders won, unexpectedly ending the Lions’ season as they had secured the No. 1 seed.
Earlier this year, Trump faced challenges revolving around the team’s plans for a new stadium in Washington, expressing concerns over the team’s name change from the former “Redskins.” He had been quite vocal about wanting to revert to the old name, suggesting it could enhance the team’s value and make the stadium deal more appealing.
As for the game itself, it will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET, amidst the backdrop of a government shutdown, which has affected some NFL events. The Pentagon announced there would be no funding for military flyovers during this weekend’s “Salute to Service” campaign.
