Trump to extend TikTok deadline by an additional 90 days, according to the White House.

President Trump is set to sign another executive order this week, extending the deadline for TikTok’s parent company to sell its video-sharing apps, according to White House Press Chief Karolyn Leavitt.

“As he has mentioned multiple times, President Trump aims to prevent TikTok from being blocked,” Leavitt stated in a message shared with The Hill. “This extension will last for 90 days, and the administration is committed to finalizing this deal.”

This announcement came just hours after Trump indicated he was likely to push back the deadline for the sale to avoid a ban on TikTok in the U.S.

When questioned about granting another extension, the president responded on Air Force One that he would “probably, yeah.”

“We might need Chinese approval, but we believe that will happen,” Trump remarked while returning from a gathering at the Seven Summit in Canada. “I think President Xi will finally give it the green light.”

This anticipated order would mark Trump’s third extension on the matter since he took office in January.

A law previously enacted required TikTok’s China-based parent company to either sell the platform or face a ban from U.S. networks and app stores—a mandate signed last year by former President Biden.

The law took effect on January 19, just a day before Trump began his second term.

However, the platform quickly came back online after Trump vowed to issue an executive order to provide an extension.

The president held true to that promise, granting TikTok’s Chinese parent company more time to finalize the sale amid ongoing national security concerns.

Early in April, the White House ended its contract with TikTok, but the situation fell apart when Trump announced the elimination of new “mutual” tariffs, including significant import taxes on Chinese products.

Subsequently, the president offered a 75-day extension for TikTok, which was set to end on June 19.
