Trump to sit down with ‘Hannity’ for first interview since debate against Biden

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to give his first interview since the debate with President Biden on Monday.

The interview with Trump will air on “Hannity” at 9 pm ET on July 8. Host Sean Hannity is expected to ask Trump about growing calls for Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

The former president appeared on Hannity last month after being convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in New York v. Trump, to discuss the state of the country and his own political activities.

Hannity asked the former president what he would say to people who believe that if he were to return to the White House in 2025, he would seek retribution and use the justice system to go after his political opponents.

Trump’s approval rating tops 50%, he leads Biden on two key voter issues: poll

“Number one, they’re wrong,” Trump responded. “They have to be stopped or we won’t have a country. Look, after this election is over, I have the right to go after them based on what they’ve done. It’s simple, because it’s Joe Biden, I know all of the criminal activity, I know his family and all of the money that’s flowing to him, money from China, Russia, Ukraine.”

On Thursday, Trump challenged Biden to another debate, this time without a moderator.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump demanded a “no holds barred” and “full discussion” with Biden about the country’s future.

It’s not surprising that he’s keen to challenge Biden again, given that the Democratic president is widely considered to have lost their first showdown in the 2024 presidential election.

The 81-year-old incumbent Biden’s halting speech and halting responses at the CNN presidential debate in Atlanta caused widespread panic among Democrats, with pundits, commentators and some party donors calling for him to step aside and put forward a younger, more capable candidate.

Biden slammed for not being clear if he watched debate: ‘Doesn’t he know???’

Biden has so far staunchly resisted calls for him to resign, telling the crowd during a Fourth of July speech at the White House: “I’m not going anywhere.”

The next day, Biden told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that he was the best person to beat Trump in November and that he would only step aside if “God Almighty” came down and told him to do so.

The interview drew widespread criticism and attracted the attention of former Obama adviser David Axelrod, who accused the president of “denial, delusion and defiance.”

“Biden may be right to want to put his terrible debate performance behind him. His purpose in giving interviews on Friday was to try to quell the panic that has gripped the Democratic Party,” Axelrod said in a CNN op-ed. “He did not succeed.”
