Trump Seeks Investigation into Epstein’s Connections
President Donald Trump declared on Friday that he plans to request Attorney General Pam Bondi to look into Jeffrey Epstein’s connections with several notable figures, including former President Bill Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and Democratic donor Reid Hoffman, as well as large financial institutions.
This announcement came via a post on Truth Social, shortly after the House Oversight Committee disclosed 20,000 documents from Epstein’s estate.
In his statement, Trump suggested, “As Democrats attempt to leverage the Epstein issue against them, instead of us, in light of their handling of a government shutdown and other setbacks, I’ll be asking Director Pam Bondi and the DOJ, alongside the dedicated agents at the FBI, to investigate Epstein’s relationships with Clinton, Summers, Hoffman, and institutions like JP Morgan Chase, among others, to uncover the depths of these connections.”
Trump compared the recent document release and its media handling to the “Russia, Russia, Russia” narrative, asserting that it’s all part of a Democratic scam.
He noted, “This is just another version of the Russia scam, all signs point to the Democratic Party. Evidence shows that these individuals spent substantial time with Epstein and on his island. So, stay tuned!”
Before this latest post, Trump labeled Epstein a “Democrat problem,” suggesting that Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman ought to be questioned.
He added:
The Democrats are pulling out all the stops to revive the Epstein issue, especially after the Justice Department handed over 50,000 pages of documents, which they hope could deflect attention from their poor policies and the shutdown embarrassment where they seem utterly lost. Some weak Republicans have gotten ensnared in this as they lack resolve. Epstein was connected to Democrats; it’s a problem for them, not us! Let Clinton, Hoffman, and Summers address their ties to Epstein—it’s pointless to direct this at Trump when I have a country to manage!
Summers, who was Treasury Secretary during Clinton’s term and served under Barack Obama, had interactions with Epstein from 2017 to 2019, according to reports.
Correspondence between Epstein and Summers indicated a closer relationship than previously recognized, with emails exchanged frequently, as revealed in the House Republicans’ document release.
On another note, Trump and Epstein had past connections over the years.
White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt remarked that Trump removed Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club due to Epstein’s “creepy” behavior and allegations of pedophilia.
In a statement, a spokesperson from JPMorgan Chase expressed regret over their association with Epstein but emphasized that they did not aid him in illegal activities, stating, “We cut ties with him long before his arrest related to sex trafficking charges.”
