Trump tops Biden by 8 points in Michigan poll

Former President Trump beat President Biden by 8 points among registered voters in Michigan. A hypothetical rematch of the 2020 election.

A CNN poll released Friday found that 50% of voters would support Mr. Trump if the presidential election were held today, while 42% would support Mr. Biden. 5% said they would support someone else, and 2% said they had no intention of voting.

The poll also found that approval rating for Biden’s handling of the job was flat at 35%, the same percentage as in November.

Furthermore, 40% of registered voters surveyed in Michigan said they had a favorable opinion of Mr. Trump, compared to 33% who said the same about Mr. Biden.

Biden flipped Michigan in the 2020 presidential election after Trump won it in 2016. The president easily won last month’s Michigan Democratic primary, but the ballot option for voters to choose “not committed” received more than 100,000 votes after a campaign that said: Voters in the state must choose to send a message of disapproval of Biden’s handling of the war in Gaza.

The average The Hill/Decision Desk poll for the 2024 Michigan election has Trump leading Biden 45.4 to 42.1 percent.

The CNN poll was conducted March 13-18 among a sample of 1,097 registered voters. The sampling error is 3.6 percentage points.
