Trump tops Haley by 29 points in South Carolina poll

Former President Trump has a wide lead in his home state over former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (Republican), according to a new Emerson College study. The poll was released on Friday..

Polls show Trump leading Haley by 29 points in South Carolina, just eight weeks before the state's Feb. 24 primary.

According to the poll, Trump's approval rating was 54%, Haley's approval rating was 25%, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) was in a distant third place with 7%.

According to the poll, support for the former president is strongest among those most likely to vote in the primary, with Trump leading Haley by 23 points among those most likely to vote. It has been found. Among those who are “somewhat likely” to vote next month, the number narrows to just 4 points.

Haley's strength, on the other hand, lies in independent voters. Among that group, she trails President Trump by just four points. But among people who identify as Republicans, Trump's lead has widened to 41 points.

“The current state of the South Carolina race shows Trump as the front-runner and Haley as his main opponent. Likewise, he disappeared into the crowd with single-digit approval ratings,” said Spencer Kimball, head of polling at Emerson College.

He added: “A key question arising from this poll is whether Haley can muster enough support in her home state before the primary in case the race heats up after New Hampshire.” he added.

Friday's poll is in line with other polls in the Palmetto State. Mr. Trump holds an overall lead of 53% to 23% over Ms. Haley, according to Hill/Decision Desk's average of state polls.

Haley has focused much of her campaign in New Hampshire, hoping that a victory in the Granite State will quickly expand her support in other states. There, her support has increased rapidly in recent weeks, with her approval rating rising to 30 percent, according to the Hill/DDHQ average. However, he still falls behind Trump in New Hampshire, where he has about 42 percent support in The Hill/DDHQ average.
