Trump touts Orban’s support post-conviction

Former President Trump on Sunday highlighted his support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban following his conviction last week in a New York hush-money criminal case.

In a social media post on Sunday evening, Trump posted a screenshot of Orban’s message on the social platform “X.”

“I know President Trump to be an honorable man,” Orbán wrote to X early Friday following his conviction. “As president, he has always put America first, earned respect around the world, and used that respect to build peace.”

“Let the people decide in November!” Orban I have writtenHe echoed the sentiments of President Trump upon receiving the news of the guilty verdict: “Mr. President, keep fighting!”

Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal a scheme to conceal information that could harm the American people ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump’s legal team has vowed to appeal the verdict.

Orban, who has long had close ties to right-wing US politics, joined other Republican allies of the former president in backing the presumptive GOP nominee for president in 2024.
