Trump travels to DC to meet with Congressional Republicans, speak with nation’s top business executives

Former President Trump is due to visit the nation’s capital on Thursday for a series of meetings with Republican lawmakers from both the House and Senate and an event with America’s top corporate executives.

A senior Trump campaign official told Fox News Digital that the meeting between the former president and Republican lawmakers will be “looking at policies that will save the country.”

According to campaign officials, those policies include “Trump’s promise to protect seniors without cutting Social Security or Medicare; policies that actually secure our borders and make our communities safe again; an America First foreign policy that will restore peace through strength and global leadership; and an economic agenda of lower taxes that will reignite the vibrant Trump economy of just a few years ago.”

With less than five months until Election Day, Trump will begin speaking at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at the Capitol Hill Club, a popular members-only gathering for House Republicans in Washington, D.C., and home to the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Republican National Congressional Committee (NRCC).

According to an invitation sent to senior House Republican aides on Tuesday morning and obtained by Fox News Digital, President Trump is coming at a joint invitation from House leaders: Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana), Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-New York).

House Republican leadership has been almost completely aligned with Trump since Johnson became speaker in late October, and sources previously told Fox News Digital that Johnson provides Trump with information before announcing major House business items.

Johnson’s office told Fox News Digital that President Trump and Republican lawmakers will “discuss expanding the Republican House majority and the 2025 legislative agenda.”

The meeting with House Republicans was closed to the press. House Judiciary Committee Hearing The former president is due to take part in a panel with top business leaders to investigate Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s “political prosecution of President Trump.”

Trump is due to speak at an event hosted by the Business Roundtable, an organization of more than 200 CEOs of America’s largest companies, where he will argue that a second term as president should deliver a more prosperous economy.

The informal discussion, scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m., will be moderated by Fox Business host Larry Kudlow, who served as director of the National Economic Council in the Trump administration from 2018 to 2021.

White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients will also attend the roundtable and speak on behalf of President Biden, who is traveling overseas to attend the G7 summit in Italy.

Following the roundtable, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Senate Republicans at 12:30 p.m.

A Trump campaign source told Fox News Digital that the meeting between President Trump and Republican senators will be closed to reporters and will take place at the headquarters of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).

Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso’s office confirmed to Fox News Digital on Monday that President Trump will address Senate Republicans this week.

“I have invited President Trump to meet with members of the Republican Conference,” Sen. Barrasso (R-Wyo.) wrote to Republican senators in a message obtained by Fox News Digital. “I believe it would be beneficial to hear directly from President Trump about his plans for the summer and to share our thinking on his strategic governance agenda for 2025.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who supported Trump’s retake of the White House in March, attended the meeting on Wednesday and said Trump has “earned the electoral votes’ nomination” for the 2024 presidential election. It will be the first time the two prominent Republicans have met since December 2020.

After the rally, President Trump and Republican senators are scheduled to address reporters.

The former president’s visit comes as he faces legal battle after legal battle, with the deadline for Trump’s lawyers to file post-trial motions in New York v. Trump set for close of business on Thursday.

Trump is scheduled to meet again with Johnson and National Wildlife Council President Richard Hudson at his Mar-a-Lago resort on Monday after meeting with Republican lawmakers on Thursday, a source familiar with the plans told Fox News Digital.
