Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) expressed on MSNBC’s “Ali Versi” this past Sunday that the Trump administration appears to be attempting to undermine Congress and suspend constitutional principles.
Responding to questions regarding Newark Mayor Rasbaraka’s arrest at Delaney Hall Detention Center, Van Hollen noted that the Trump administration is also disregarding unanimous Supreme Court rulings intended to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia.
He emphasized, “What we’re seeing is an effort to intimidate and silence individuals. It’s crucial for us to speak out even more vigorously during this time.”
Van Hollen remarked, “This approach reflects oppression; it’s a tactic the Trump administration is utilizing to instill fear, leading us down a dangerous path toward authoritarianism. What we see here is an effort to obstruct, oversee, and quiet legitimate actions taken by members of Congress.”
