Trump Discusses Iran’s Military Situation

President Donald Trump has remarked on the current state of Iran’s military, suggesting that the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is “decimated and on the run.” He asserted that the United States holds full control over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passageway responsible for transporting roughly 20% of the global oil supply and liquefied natural gas.

“The United States has complete control of the Strait of Hormuz, and I think we will maintain it! Everyone calls our naval blockade a ‘wall of steel,’ but there is nothing Iran can do about it,” Trump stated on Truth Social. He added that, “They have no navy or air force, their remaining soldiers are unpaid, their Revolutionary Guards are in disarray and on the run, and their ‘leadership’ is uncertain at best!”

Trump emphasized Iran’s economic struggles, labeling their remaining capabilities as “fake news.” He dismissed the regime’s military threats, arguing that soaring inflation and a severe financial crisis are debilitating Iran internally.

“They have no money. Their country has been ‘shot.’ All they have is fake news and 300% inflation, and it’s getting worse! Iran is all talk and no action and is no longer the bully of the Middle East,” he remarked.

This commentary follows his earlier statement about ongoing, albeit discreet, negotiations between the United States and Iran regarding its economic difficulties.

“We are only semi-negotiating with them. We are just looking at the fact that Iran has huge inflation and they have no money,” he mentioned in an interview.

After Iranian officials presented several demands to reopen the Strait, Trump countered with his own set of conditions.

Iran’s Demands

Mohammad Baqer Zorqadr, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, laid out six firm requirements for reopening the Strait. These include the complete withdrawal of U.S. forces from the area, an immediate halt on sanctions, and reparations for war damages attributed to the U.S. and Israel.

Trump’s Counter-Demand

In a twist, Trump publicly rejected Iran’s stipulations on Monday and insisted that Iran should pay reparations instead. He instructed negotiators to require compensation for U.S. personnel affected by Iranian-backed forces, including casualties from roadside bombs and attacks on vessels like the USS Cole, as well as for families of Iranian nationals who died in protests against the regime.

“Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran appear to be demanding reparations for damages sustained during the past five months of military conflict… Now I am likewise demanding reparations from Iran for all the people it has killed and seriously injured with roadside bombs, and for many of the conflicts,” he said.
