Shortly after starting his second term, Vice President J.D. Vance recalled how reporters pressured President Donald Trump regarding soaring egg prices.
During a policy discussion aired on Breitbart News in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Vance elaborated that the Trump administration faced mounting pressure to improve the economy right from the beginning.
“Take, for instance, the price of eggs. I distinctly remember one of the earliest press conferences after his second term began. An ABC reporter exclaimed, ‘What’s the deal with egg prices? They’ve surged by 300 percent over the last three years!'” Vance recounted.
“It was like January 23rd. What could possibly change in just two days? It’s going to take some time to address,” he added.
For Americans striving to make ends meet, wanting to work hard, pay taxes, and provide good opportunities for their kids, the price of eggs soared from $2 a dozen to $8 under Biden, while it dropped from $8 to perhaps $6.50 under Trump.
It’s still a significant concern, and while we’ve made noteworthy strides, there’s more work ahead. I just ask for a bit of patience from the American people. The economy remained stable for ten months. The previous administration posed challenges for everyday Americans by importing foreign labor instead of creating jobs for U.S. citizens, overregulating, overtaxing, and overspending—essentially doing it all wrong.
Since Trump took office in January, the average cost of a dozen eggs has decreased from $6.49 to $2.52 by June 2, according to Breitbart News.
The following month, the outlet noted that “raw egg prices dropped significantly in June, marking the third decline of over 20% in just four months,” adding that “President Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to reduce prices, despite facing criticism from liberal economists and mainstream media.”
