Trump: US has 'just about' ended Ukraine intelligence-sharing suspension

President Trump said on Sunday that the US has ended its suspension of intelligence news sharing with Ukraine and added that it is hoping for “many progress” during planned talks with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia this week.

Speaking to reporters in Air Force 1, Trump said he wanted Ukraine to “want peace.”

“Now they haven't shown it to the extent they should have,” he said, adding that the seriousness of Ukraine will be apparent in the next few days.

On Wednesday, Trump administration officials said the White House suspended sharing of intelligence news with Ukraine in the war with Russia as part of a review of broader support for Kiev.

CIA director John Ratcliffe and national security adviser Mike Waltz both confirmed that the US has suspended sharing intelligence news as well as military aid.

US officials are scheduled to hold discussions with a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Some are assessing whether Ukraine is ready to offer concessions to Russia and end the war. A mineral agreement between Washington and Kiev has also been negotiated, and the results are likely to affect the Jeddah consultations.

In a conversation with a reporter on Sunday, Trump said he believes Ukraine will sign a mineral trade.

He was asked if he was worried about military exercises involving Russia, China and Iran, but he said the US was “stronger than all of them.”
