Trump visits General Motors Testing Facility to honor the comeback of the auto industry

President Donald Trump visited the General Motors Proving Grounds, celebrating what he termed a “roaring comeback for America’s auto industry.” He claimed that his trade policies had revitalized the domestic automotive sector.

During his visit in Milford, Michigan, Trump expressed frustration over how the auto industry had been mistreated by globalist politicians. He argued that these special interests caused foreign countries to take American jobs and damage local factories, affecting what was once the heart of the American auto industry—Detroit.

He declared that Michigan now has a leader willing to advocate for auto workers and prioritize American interests.

“My policy is straightforward: if you manufacture your truck or car overseas, you must pay to enter our market and profit from it. Conversely, if you produce your vehicles here in the U.S., you face no tariff,” Trump stated.

In his speech, the president highlighted General Motors’ significant growth, noting a 20% increase in truck and SUV production this year and a $9 billion investment aimed at enhancing U.S. auto manufacturing.

Trump emphasized that the progress seen in Michigan would not have happened under Democratic leadership in the 2024 elections, suggesting the domestic auto industry could have vanished.

He invited Brian Pannebacker, founder of Auto Workers for Trump, onto the stage, allowing him to address the audience.

“We owe this gentleman our gratitude for all these jobs returning. I hear it frequently from my contacts at various auto plants in the Detroit area—jobs are indeed coming back to America!” Pannebacker remarked.

The White House indicated that due to Trump’s America First tariff policies, automotive production had surged, benefiting American workers with returning paychecks.
