Trump Visits Hurricane Helene-Ravaged Western North Carolina

Former President Donald Trump made landfall in western North Carolina on Monday to survey the damage caused by Hurricane Helen, meet with survivors and thank volunteers who helped save lives.

Five states were affected by Hurricane Helen: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. However, the state hardest hit was North Carolina.

Hurricane Helen was the worst hurricane to hit the continental United States since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, with more than 300 people confirmed dead and many still missing.

The storm made landfall on September 26, but residents in the area are still reeling from the hurricane's damage. Many people lost their homes, everything they owned, and even loved ones.

Power has only recently been restored in many areas, but many homes are still using generators. Almost all areas have lost running water, and residents are still advised not to boil tap water before drinking it.

Trump spent time with local leaders and volunteers. One of them was former Green Beret Adam Smith, who founded the Savage Freedoms relief effort after the hurricane.

The group conducted aerial search and rescue operations during the early stages of the hurricane, helping survivors find food, shelter, water, medicine and other critical supplies.

“We ask God to give us strength and comfort and peace…When I become president, I will continue to work with you until our community is completely rebuilt,” Trump told residents of western North Carolina. I support them,” he said.

Trump campaign deputy press secretary Margo Martin posted a video of the destruction she saw as the Trump campaign motorcade drove through Asheville, which also sustained significant damage.

Breitbart News spent seven days in western North Carolina, where residents expressed skepticism about the Biden-Harris administration's response to the hurricane.

Vice President Kamala Harris announced $750 in “immediate relief” to survivors, but applicants and those whose applications were denied scoffed.

Aaron Switzer, one of the Savage Freedom relief volunteers, told Breitbart News that the $750 was a “slap in the face.”

he asked, as many businesses in the area were completely destroyed. they can't eat it. It's like a slap in the face. ”
