Trump visits Lubbock for his second campaign stop, rallying Republican support for Paxton

Trump Campaigns in Texas Ahead of Midterms

President Donald Trump made his way to Lubbock on Tuesday, marking the second stop in his campaign tour across Texas. This visit is aimed at rallying Republican support in a closely contested U.S. Senate race.

Following a rally at the Port of Corpus Christi earlier in the day, Trump addressed supporters at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, endorsing Republican nominee Ken Paxton, the current Texas Attorney General, as he takes on Democrat state Representative James Talarico.

As the midterm elections approach—just a week away on November 3rd—this visit underscored Texas’s significance as a crucial state in the fight for Senate control.

In his speech, Trump focused on energy policies and cultural issues, emphasizing Texas’s vital role in national energy production. He also shared plans from his administration to relax federal methane emission regulations for oil and gas companies. Trump argued that these changes are necessary to lower fuel prices and enhance American energy independence.

Continuing from his comments in Corpus Christi, Trump criticized Talarico for being too liberal for Texas, while praising Paxton for his commitment to border security, traditional values, and the interests of the state. He encouraged strong voter turnout from West Texas, arguing that Paxton’s victory is essential to maintain a conservative presence in Washington.

The choice to visit places like Lubbock in West Texas and Corpus Christi in South Texas is strategic. It reflects the Republicans’ goal of protecting an ongoing winning streak that has persisted in statewide elections since 1994. Although West Texas has traditionally shown strong conservative support, recent polling indicates a tighter race, raising concerns about potential turnout for Paxton in this area.

Overall, Trump’s visit aims to energize core Republican voters.

In response, Talarico has been campaigning actively in West Texas, making stops in Midland and Amarillo. He also held a rally at the Fiesta Center in Lubbock the same evening, targeting more moderate and independent voters.
