Former President Donald Trump said at a Silicon Valley fundraiser on Thursday that he would be a “cryptocurrency president,” but the Biden administration has maintained a staunchly anti-innovation stance.
Trump presented himself as a defender of cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin at a fundraiser hosted by tech venture capitalists David Sachs and Chamath Palihapitiya at Sachs’ home.
While President Joe Biden and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler have pursued a staunchly anti-cryptocurrency agenda, Silicon Valley and the cryptocurrency industry have warmed to the 45th president.

Executives from digital currency exchange Coinbase, crypto exchange Gemini founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss and other crypto industry leaders attended the fundraising event on Thursday.
