Trump VP Pick J.D. Vance Hailed as ‘One of the Best’ Senators on Immigration

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), a national populist who was former President Donald Trump’s running mate, is known as one of the “best” lawmakers in Congress on immigration, defending working-class American communities from his party’s conservative donors.

“Trump [J.D. Vance] “As Vice President, we’re appointing one of the best lawmakers on immigration, giving us an incredible co-pilot for the largest deportation program in American history!” the National Center for Immigration Enforcement (NICE) said. I have written In a statement following the reports on Monday.

Vance, in particular, has been a leading voice in pointing out how mass immigration into the United States is debilitating the country’s working and lower-middle classes.

As a forward-thinking approach, Vance is a co-sponsor of the Alternatives to Detention Reform (ATD) bill, which would streamline enforcement tools already in place at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and make it easier for future administrations to find, detain, and deport illegal immigrants residing throughout the United States.

Supporters say the bill is key to making reality President Trump’s promise to launch “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”

“President Trump was catapulted into office on a promise to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws, and he has delivered,” NICE president RJ Howman told Breitbart News.

“The selection of a true immigration reformer like Senator Vance proves once again that securing our borders and strengthening domestic enforcement are President Trump’s top priorities, and he will deliver once again,” Howman said. “The largest deportation program in American history now has its best co-pilot.”

In addition to illegal immigration, Vance has criticized federal policies that allow more than a million legal immigrants each year, as well as the importation of hundreds of thousands of foreign workers who take away white- and blue-collar jobs in the United States.

Theo Wald, a former Trump administration official who worked on immigration issues, told Breitbart News that Trump and Vance are “the most battle-hardened defenders of American blue-collar workers in modern history.”

“Under a Trump-Vance Administration, Americans will be physically safer from criminal illegal immigrants and their jobs will be protected from companies that outsource jobs or try to undercut wages with cheap foreign labor,” Wald said.

James Massa, CEO of NumbersUSA, a group that advocates for reducing legal immigration, said in a statement to reporters that Trump’s decision to choose Vance as his running mate sends a “strong message” that “stopping illegal immigration and reforming our legal immigration system are key to the nation’s future prosperity.”

“Vance has emerged as a leading voice in the Senate for real immigration reform,” Massa said.

He has consistently supported effective border security and domestic law enforcement policies, from parole and asylum reform to national E-Verify. Vance is an original co-sponsor of S. 2824, the Senate companion to HR2, a border security bill that would have passed the House in May 2023 and ended the border crisis. He voted against the Senate immigration deal approved by President Biden. It would mandate illegal immigration and increase legal immigration. [Emphasis added]

Vance stands out for his ability to articulate the dysfunction inherent in our nation’s legal immigration system, particularly the damage it causes to American workers through lower wages and job losses, and for understanding how increased immigration leads to higher housing costs. Senator Vance understands that immigration policy should no longer be dictated by special interests in Washington, D.C., or big corporations seeking cheap labor at the expense of American workers.designed for the benefit of the entire American people. Vance received an A rating from NumbersUSA. [Emphasis added]

Heritage Action, which, like NumbersUSA, rates lawmakers’ voting records, noted that Vance had a score of 93 percent, indicating a strong conservative record.

Vance, in particular, has been a leading voice in the Senate in connecting mass immigration to the nation’s soaring housing prices.

On Tuesday, for example, Vance grilled Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell about the impact of mass immigration on driving up home prices while lowering wages for working- and middle-class Americans.

Vance pointed to his home state of Ohio, where Springfield residents have dealt with rising home prices and rents in a confined space as tens of thousands of newly arrived immigrants put pressure on the housing market.

Vance said mass immigration drives up housing prices while lowering wages for working-class Americans who are more likely to compete for jobs with illegal immigrants.

Vance said:

When I hear my colleagues outside the Fed and other economists talk about immigration and the fact that it puts downward pressure on wages, it obviously puts some downward pressure on inflation, but I wonder if it also puts downward pressure on the wages that people are earning to support their families.

President Trump has made similar statements, arguing that mass immigration will put a strain on the cost of living for Americans.

“Housing costs are skyrocketing … because we have 15 million new immigrants. We don’t have anywhere to house them,” Trump said at a rally in Arizona in June. “We don’t have anywhere to house them. And the numbers are growing, and we just don’t have any room.”
