Trump ‘Was Given Nine Seconds’ to Take ‘Photo Op During an Active Shooter Situation’

During MSNBC’s coverage of the third day of the Republican National Convention on Wednesday, MSNBC host Joy Reid claimed that the Secret Service gave former President and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump “nine seconds to take an iconic photo with a gunman present” during the attempted assassination of the former president at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday, and said “it’s going to get resolved at some point.”

Discussing President Joe Biden’s positive COVID-19 test earlier in the day, Reid said, “Donald Trump is an older man who, for some reason, was given just nine seconds to pose for an iconic photo op in the middle of a mass shooting. It’s a bizarre situation. We’ll figure it out at some point.”

Reade also argued that Biden could use his positive test result to remind people how bad the COVID-19 pandemic has been and attack President Trump’s response by contrasting his own response to COVID-19 with that of President Trump when he was infected while in office. She also argued that if Biden recovers from COVID-19 and is able to hold a rally, it should be seen as a symbol of strength, just as President Trump bounced back after being shot in an assassination attempt.
