Billie Joe Armstrong Challenges ICE Agents at Super Bowl Party
Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day, took a bold stance at a pre-Super Bowl party, openly criticizing ICE agents. He urged them to “quit your fucking job” before they face repercussions from President Trump and his administration, stating they would be discarded like a bad habit.
This message came during an exclusive event hosted by Spotify, where Armstrong expressed his desire for ICE agents to reconsider their roles. In his own words:
I have a message for ICE agents, wherever you are…quit that dirty job of yours, because when this ends – and it will end someday – Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, JD Vance, Donald Trump, they’ll dump you like a bad habit.
Additionally, Armstrong used a recent performance at San Francisco’s Pier 29 to adapt some of the band’s lyrics, reflecting current societal issues. While performing “Holiday,” he changed a line from “Representatives of California have a say” to “Representatives of Epstein Island have a say.” He dedicated this song to Minneapolis and also modified the lyrics of “American Idiot” to state, “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda” instead of “part of the redneck agenda.”
Armstrong’s contempt for Trump has been evident for years. In 2016, he drew parallels between the president and Hitler during an interview. He expressed deep concerns about Trump’s supporters, describing them as poor, working-class individuals who have been manipulated. “The worst question I think about Trump is who his supporters are,” he reflected, adding that he felt sympathy for them, noting how they are being exploited for their anger.
As for the upcoming Super Bowl, Green Day is set to perform during the pregame ceremony, introducing past Super Bowl MVPs onto the field. While the specific timing of their performance remains undisclosed, the game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT, with music likely preceding it by an hour. NBC will kick off a full day of pregame coverage starting at noon ET.
