Trump to Attend FIFA Club World Cup Final
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced that he will be attending the FIFA Club World Cup Final taking place this Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. During a cabinet meeting, he casually confirmed, “I’m going to the game.”
His presence at this event isn’t surprising, considering he has been a regular at various sporting occasions throughout his presidency, such as the recent UFC fight in February and Super Bowl LIX.
Additionally, Trump mentioned plans to host the Club World Cup in March as a precursor to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be shared by the US, Canada, and Mexico. He’ll also oversee numerous matches during this tournament.
Leading the task force for the event, Trump is accompanied by Vice President JD Vance as the vice-chairman.
In May, Trump appointed Andrew Giuliani, son of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, as the executive director to handle the daily operations of the task force. Carlos Cordeiro, a senior FIFA advisor, has also joined as a senior advisor to the group.
“He’s great. I’ve known him for a long time. A very competitive golfer and an excellent person. I want to congratulate you and your family, Andrew,” Trump commented, expressing his support for Giuliani’s appointed role.
Chelsea FC secured a place in the final after defeating Fluminense 2-0 in the semi-finals, and now they await the winner between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
