Trump to Honor Giuliani with President’s Medal of Freedom

On Monday, President Trump revealed that Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and his personal attorney during the contentious 2020 election dispute, will be awarded the President’s Medal of Freedom, which is the highest civilian award in the United States.

“As President of the United States, I’m pleased to announce that a great American patriot, Rudy Giuliani, the most prominent mayor in New York City’s history, will receive this honor,” Trump stated.

Details regarding when the award will be presented are expected to follow, as such honors are typically given during ceremonies at the White House.

This announcement comes just two days after Giuliani was involved in a serious car accident in New Hampshire. According to his security chief, his vehicle was struck from behind while traveling at high speed.

Giuliani was taken to a local trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a potential broken thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations, along with injuries to his left arm and leg, as reported by Michael Lagusa.

Lagusa also mentioned that Giuliani was “spiritual” during this challenging time.

Giuliani, often referred to as the “US mayor” for his leadership following the 9/11 attacks, had been deeply involved in Trump’s attempts to contest the 2020 election results. Despite numerous lawsuits across various states, no legal actions succeeded in altering the outcome.

Additionally, Giuliani has faced repercussions due to his efforts in 2020. Last year, he was barred from practicing law in Washington, DC, and two election workers in Georgia were awarded $148 million after a ruling against him.

Oka reached out to the White House for further details on the awards announced on Monday.
