MSNBC contributor Claire McCaskill said on “Deadline” on Monday that former President Donald Trump would have to “make up a hoax” if he lost the debate.
“I really think it’s more about how Joe Biden said it than what he said,” McAskill said. “By the way, Trump has set Biden up in a very favorable light on this. Trump has spent the last six months convincing the American people that Joe Biden can’t walk and talk. He has spent the last six months convincing the American people that Joe Biden is crazy. So Joe Biden is going to understand the issues, he’s not going to be afraid of this guy, he’s going to take a strong stance and tell him to just stop talking and shut up. And Joe Biden is going to do that.”
She continued, “Frankly, I think cutting the microphones will be harder for Trump this time around. You could argue that not cutting the microphones might be to Biden’s advantage.”
McCain added, “I think it’s really important that we continue to point out, and we have to point out again and again, is that Trump’s lawyers helped select the jury that convicted him and Trump agreed to these rules. Trump agreed to the rules. So he can’t say these are rigged rules. He agreed to these rules, just like he helped select the jury. So I think it’s important to remind everybody of that. He’s going to say after he loses a debate, ‘Oh, this is rigged against me,’ because he can never lose. He’s going to have to make up some bullshit, ‘Oh, sorry.'”
