Trump wins North Dakota GOP caucus

Former President Trump is expected to win the North Dakota Republican caucus, according to Decision Desk Headquarters, extending his winning record as he looks to secure the Republican nomination.

The result was a further blow to rival Nikki Haley, who had promised to remain in the race until Super Tuesday despite losing early states to Trump and trailing in the polls. Ta. Ms. Haley won the Republican primary in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, marking her only victory over Mr. Trump.

Trump easily won North Dakota and elected 29 Republican delegates to the national convention later this year.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum launched a high-profile bid for the White House last year, qualifying for the first two Republican debates but falling from single digits in the polls. However, in December, he suspended his election campaign. He later endorsed Trump, calling the former president a “friend and partner” of the Peace Garden State.

Mr. Trump is still far from reaching the 1,215 delegates needed to win the Republican Party, but he entered Super Tuesday with a significant lead in the polls and appears poised to advance toward the general election.

But Trump is running amid multiple criminal charges and civil lawsuits, and some observers believe Haley will remain in the race in case the former president’s 2024 presidential bid derails. I have doubts.

The North Dakota Republican caucus will be held the day before Super Tuesday, when more than a dozen states will hold nominating contests. Hundreds of delegates will be at the March 5 table.
