Former President Trump was expected to win Tennessee’s Republican primary, according to Decision Desk Headquarters.
It was another victory for Trump, who is aiming to win the 1,215 delegates needed to win his party’s support in a state with 58 delegates to win on the Republican side.
Trump defeated rival Nikki Haley. Haley has been unable to secure a notable victory, despite vowing to remain in the race as the last challenger between the former president and the nominee.
Trump entered Tennessee’s Super Tuesday primary with a nearly 60-point lead over Haley, according to Decision Desk/The Hill averages. Trump won Tennessee in both 2016 and 2020, but the state hasn’t voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in decades.
Tennessee includes Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and American Samoa.
The race is expected to give both President Trump and Democratic front-runner President Biden a major boost in their efforts to win the necessary delegates.
