White House Announces Drug Discounts
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt discussed significant savings on prescription drugs in an exclusive interview on the Alex Marlowe Show last Friday. She highlighted the website TrumpRx.com, which is set to save millions of Americans substantial amounts on their medications.
Levitt appeared on the show following President Donald Trump’s recent policy announcement, which took place during a press conference. The new website was launched in the South Court Auditorium of the Eisenhower Executive Building.
During the interview, Levitt pointed out that Americans can now access discounts on a selection of 43 drugs offered by five out of 14 major pharmaceutical companies with which Trump has made most-favored-nation (MFN) agreements. Additional products from other companies with similar agreements are expected to be available soon.
“Viewers can take advantage of it today at TrumpRx.gov,” Levitt noted, emphasizing that this is an official government website designed to be user-friendly. “It’s never looked this good,” she added.
She praised Joe Gebbia, the National Design Studio Chief Design Officer, who played a role in creating TrumpRx alongside Trump and Medicare Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, offering tutorials for users at its launch.
Levitt characterized this initiative as a “first-of-its-kind” effort established by an executive order from President Trump. She mentioned Gebbia’s impressive background, including his co-founding of Airbnb, highlighting his commitment to improving government services.
“This is a direct-to-consumer site where Americans can buy their medications and witness significant savings,” she explained. “It’s not just visually appealing; it’s also effective— millions will save thousands over time because of President Trump.”
For instance, expensive medications like Wegovy and Ozempic, which cost $1,349 and $1,028 per month, can now be obtained through TrumpRx for around $350, potentially even dropping to $199 depending on the dosage.
Levitt also criticized mainstream media for their negative portrayal of TrumpRx, recounting a touching story about a woman named Katherine, a military spouse, who recently benefitted from the website, managing to secure cheaper medication. “There was this woman at the event who saved over $1,500 on a fertility drug,” she stated, noting that the media seems to downplay these successes. “It’s baffling, really—she’s starting her family, and yet they still find ways to cast doubt.”
“People are always going to criticize President Trump, no matter what he does,” Levitt continued, making reference to an old saying about criticism no matter the achievements. “It’s a constant challenge, but we embrace it, and there’s no one better than President Trump.”
