Tua Tagovailoa Apologizes for Post-Game Remarks

Tua Tagovailoa expressed regret on Wednesday for using profanity towards his teammates following the Miami Dolphins’ defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.

After the loss, Tagovailoa described his feelings of shock and addressed how the team could prevent a “woe is me” mindset in the upcoming games. He emphasized the importance of everyone contributing, starting with small efforts.

“I think it begins with the leadership clearly communicating expectations to the players,” he mentioned. “This is what we expect. Will we see it? Will we not?”

Some players have been late or absent from player-only meetings, which raises questions about whether attendance should be mandatory. There’s clearly a lot to sort through, but it all starts with these little things.

On Wednesday, Tagovailoa told reporters that he “made a mistake” by not fully supporting his teammates.

“I acknowledge my mistake,” he said. “I’ve discussed this with the players and the leaders. They understand my intent was good, but sometimes good intentions can be misunderstood, leaving silence and questions among teammates.”

Reflecting on the Dolphins’ 1-5 start, he noted, “I often express my desire for us to improve and get excited about work, while blocking out external noise. But I also recognize I need to protect the team as a leader. I let my emotions from the game affect me. It’s a lesson for me.” Tagovailoa wants to keep internal matters private and move forward, focusing on the next game against the Cleveland Browns.

In the recent match against the Chargers, Tagovailoa completed 21 of 32 passes for 205 yards and had his first touchdown pass but also threw three interceptions. The team’s sole victory so far has been against the winless New York Jets.
