Tuberville Suggests ‘SEAL Teams’ Protect Trump After Assassination Attempts

Days after the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in two months, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) suggested the former president should have more security and be protected by Navy SEALs.

During the period Interview Speaking with Fox Business Network host Larry Kudlow, Tuberville criticized the Biden-Harris administration and called on the current administration to “at least act like it cares about the Republican candidate.”

“They're trying to kill the only person who can solve this problem,” Tuberville said. “And of course President Biden. I don't know who's running this country, but someone needs to step up and at least act like they care about the Republican candidate. And they don't really care. They don't care at all.”

“We need SEAL teams,” Tuberville said. “We need the military. Larry, I don't know what these guys are thinking.”

Tuberville added that figures like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, had “all kinds of security.”

“Obviously, Chuck Schumer and McConnell and all the people running around in Washington, D.C. with all the security forces,” Tuberville added, “and the only person whose life we have to protect is Donald Trump, and they refuse to do that.”

Tuberville's comments came after Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested Sunday after reportedly hiding in bushes near the Trump International Golf Course, where President Trump was playing golf.

Law enforcement officials said a rifle with a scope, a Go-Pro camera and two backpacks were found in the bushes where Routh was hiding.

As Breitbart News previously reported, Secret Service agents spotted Routh and opened fire on him, after which the suspect fled. Witnesses reportedly saw and photographed Routh's vehicle.

The second assassination attempt on Trump came after a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, when gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from the roof of a nearby building in direct line of sight to Trump, hitting him with a “penetrating bullet” above his right ear.

In the aftermath of the first assassination attempt on President Trump, the Secret Service and former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle were criticized for multiple security lapses during the Butler rally.
